"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

alas, it’s not enough. this is the center panel to my poetry in stitches sweater and it’s measuring.. wait for it.. 30 inches! that’s a pretty long sweater, folks.
so, i’ll admire the prettiness of it, but i’m afraid it’ll have to be knit again. one question: take out a repeat or go down a needle size or two? (that would mean size 1s or 0s – though the yarn could handle it as it’s practically laceweight yarn.) i have the rest of the body (the whole lice part), measuring about 20 inches, on hold, waiting to see how this center panel goes length-wise so now’s the chance to make it a shorter or longer sweater. (it’s supposed to measure 25 inches long according to the pattern.) whatcha think?

~ have you been eyeing that meathead pattern for a while? now you can get it, and the money goes towards a good cause too. [via julia]
happy wednesday ~ and a happy welcome to march, the best month of the year! ;)
I would probably take out a repeat since you already have so much of the lice part done. Going down in needle size means redoing everything and I’m way too lazy for that. I guess the question is: do you like the way it looks at this gauge? If so, keep as is and only remove one repeat from the central panel; if not, take a deep breath and go back to square one (ouch!).
BTW, nice birch trees.
Great links – thanks for plugging the meathead pattern – money will go to a great cause.
As for the poetry in stitches sweater, it’s hard for me to gte past drooling and think to suggest what to do. I’m thinking that taking out repeats will be more exacting, but I don’t know the layout of the pattern well enough to be sure. Regardless, it is freaking gorgeous.
Having now read Francesca’s comment I am inclined to agree with her reasoning – done!

God that is gorgeous. such a bummer that it is too long—and i agree with francesca’s reasoning, as usual.

that panel is so so beautiful, Andrea!! when i look at it, i think “craft commitment issues?” there is a lot of devotion in there, to the project and to knitting—there has to be, in something this beautifully made.
i don’t really have advice, though i agree with everyone else about the soundness of Francesca’s. other things to think about: do you like the size of the motifs? the number of them? doesn’t a change in needle size usually mean greater difference in stitch gauge than row gauge?

OMG, I’ve been wondering how that project was coming along. So stunning! It breaks my heart that you have to rip and re-do, but if you must, I would concur with taking out one of the repeats. Good luck, and keep us posted!
