yarn: JaggerSpun Zephyr Wool-Silk 2/18 in pewter
i started this project in december 2008 and didn’t finish it until over a year later. i had made a lace shawl for one of my little sister’s wedding and her twin then asked if i could make one for her too. my hands were exhausted but how could i resist? i made it juuust in time for the birth of her first child – there was some serious scurrying at the end. it came out beautifully and now i see why this yarn is loved so for lace knitting. i would use it again in a heartbeat. this colorway was particularly gorgeous. great pattern too btw, though a million and two charts that i had to blow up on the copier and then carry around with me for over a year. still, absolutely worth it.

1/16: finished chart b.
1/22: finished 184 rows & chart c. about 175 rows to go..
1/29: finished chart d. phew. and finished row 232.. still trying to decide whether to knit the smaller or larger size.
12/13/09!: yikes, claudi’s baby is due at the end of march. and i had to frog 30 rows because i couldn’t remember where i stopped or if i’d just made a big error. sigh.
12/16: finished line 241. phew.
12/24: almost on the plane to bolivia! i printed out all the charts (i’m in the middle of chart e) and am bringing a highlighter to help. i’m almost sure i’ll run out of yarn but i still have another 100 rows before i get to that point and there’s a chance i might be able to make it. ! plus i can always order more yarn. ;)
1/13: finished row 257. it takes so! long to knit one row. phew.
1/20: finished row 275. 92 rows to go, 24 days to finish in time for the baby shower. so, at 4 rows a day, that leaves me one day to wash it, pin it, and dry it. i can do it, yes i can. !
1/21: finished row 280.
1/24: row 287. 4 rows behind already! ah well. will try more tonight..
1/29: finished chart f and row 299. 68 rows to go. 14 days to finish it. ay, i have to do 5 rows a day now. see if i can do 10 rows today at least. ! .. midnight: ok, finished row 310, phew. so: 57 rows to go now, 4 rows a day will get it done!
1/31: finished row 318. yaawwn.
2/10: finished row 342 – halfway through chart h. finally!
3/10: aaaaaand finished. phew. just took two years, ha. so, now to block and then i want to embroider a bit here and there. claudi’s baby is due in two and a half weeks, so yayayayay. i have about 1/2 ball left of the yarn and i knit the larger size, so i guess going down to size 2s really changed the yardage. i don’t mind though, the shawl – even before blocking – is a comfy size and wraps around me fine. can’t wait to block!
