i love lists

hi there.
i’ve become a pretty big list person, i have a list for everything and i keep those lists for years and years (i am an archivist-in-training, after all), even though the grand majority of them don’t get finished or even begun. i think it started in college, with tons of time in class for doodling or, in my case, list-making. i can listen with one ear and at the same time dream a productive life via my lists. lately, my lists have become really fun: to-do list when i have more money, “things i want to learn in the next 2 years” lists, “places i want to intern” lists, “books to read” lists, “places to visit” lists, etc etc. but of course, i get the most real joy out of the old standby “to do this weekend” lists. with all this talk about lists, you think i’m not going to list some right now? yeah, right. here:

things to learn in the next two years (outside of library school):

  • » weaving & spinning
  • » asp & java
  • » yoga & running (well) <— as in not die after a mile
  • » juicing & dehydrating veggies/fruit
  • » photoshop & flash
  • » ia programs/languages like uml
  • » linux (build a linux box)
  • » computer networking (set up wifi in apartment)
  • » (practice) russian & italian, especially reading & writing

things to buy once i have extra paycheck money:

  • » get trunk, alarm, fan belt (preventative measure) fixed & get car cleaned inside/out
  • » get fridge totally fixed (more on that later)
  • » wireless & ergonomic keyboard & mouse
  • » [ichat][2] for family members & me
  • » a good juicer
  • » a new comforter & duvet
  • » a nice big bed!
  • » metal dishrack, wooden cooking utensils, big soup spoons
  • » scanner
  • » silly fun makeup, like stila
  • » join aifia & asist
  • » [voice recorder for ipod][5]
  • » and of course, the old favorite: books! so many, so little time. sigh.

and now, for this weekend (or really, till thursday wednesday, when my mom arrives):

  • » sat meeting at 9 am at ralphs for [systems design class][6] project
  • » catch up on a lot of reading for apprasial & xml classes
  • » vacuum, sweep, mop, clean out cat litter (thoroughly)
  • » organize bills, papers, & work on budget (gulp)
  • » get [saa][8] minutes up & work on [saa photos][9]
  • » get ale colorswitch to work & set up nice alt stylesheets
  • » send ipod to apple for repair (apple is the best. more info later)
  • » haircut?
  • » email sandra
  • » buy sandals
  • » send josi’s glasses to the twins
  • » return late library books
  • » go to [braille institute][12] this weekend for xml final project? no, next weekend
